The Goddess Isis, 2023
The ancient Egyptian goddess Isis emerges in multiple performative photographs that are part of Wiggins and Branco’s ongoing collaboration, The Heroines Project. Wiggins invokes the multifaceted goddess who was believed to be a great healer, a goddess of fertility, mother of the god Horus, wife and sister of Osiris and a guide for all in the afterlife. Wiggins portrays Isis in three series: She Has Wings (with Isis in shimmering golden light); Isis, Out of Darkness (in black-and-white); and Between Earth and Sky (with golden wings on the horizon surrounded by blue-gray clouds).
